Artwork by Liz Howe

Liz Howe's current work is made using "found objects", such as clothing and shoes, newspaper articles, books, furniture, metal, wood and stones.

"I collect objects that have some resonance for me. I particularly like things that have been used and are not needed any more. They are usually old, weathered and always discarded."

She often takes the objects apart and reassembles them. "I like the idea and practice of saving things from the land fill site."

The objects are sometimes partially covered in plaster, paint or wax. Liz is interested in the concept that much is hidden or only partially revealed. "Plaster has a quiet and still quality that I like. I feel that it fixes the objects or images and gives them a sense of place and worth."
